We leave the Chiramel Homestay today. We have booked a car to drive us to Allepey, as it is much more convenient than taking public transport. It is about 120 km away and the driver first takes us to smaller roads so that we can see beautiful landscapes.
After about 1 hour and 30 minutes, we arrive in Allepey.
The taxi drive cost 840 Rp for the 4 of us.

In Allepey, we can get 2 rooms in a very nice homestay, a bit further from town, but at least, in a quiet area.
We walk into town and we can enjoy lots of streetlife again.

Allepey is lined by canals, but in some of them, I don't think a boat could get its way through the thick vegetation.

We take a 1-hour-longboat tour, it is very pleasant and quiet.

Still, it is busy on the Backwaters, there are all kinds of boats there, some for local traffic, the houseboats catering for tourists...
We think we would like spending one night on one of these houseboats. We have to arrange this.
Our boat tour cost 150 Rp for our hour, it was very relaxing and we could see many birds.
